The Shivapuri Baba and his Message: Four Lectures on a Great Indian Sage
Four lectures based on the author’s meetings with the Shivapuri Baba in the two years before his death at the age of 136. Though reclusive, the Shivapuri Baba was known throughout India as a man of immense wisdom, who had circummambulated the globe on foot over a period of forty years. His teaching of Swadharma-right-life- is both timeless and also particularly relevant to the modern world.
At the time these lectures were given in 1962, John G. Bennett was already well-known as a pupil and commentator of G.I. Gurdjieff, had travelled extensively in Asia, and was also the man most responsible for the worldwide spread of Subud, the spiritual practice originating from the Indonesian mystic, Mohammad “Pak” Subud. These lectures and later book, Long Pilgrimage (1965) put all the author’s own search and discoveries into a single context.
